E-Poster Presentations

E-Posters are digital research posters highlighting clinical research, case reports, and educational initiatives from PAs and PA students across Canada. Each year’s collection features work presented at the CAPA Annual Conference, reflecting the growing role of PAs in evidence-based medicine, clinical education, and research.

Call for E-Poster Submissions

Share your research with the PA community! CAPA and PARSEC are inviting PAs, PA students, and researchers to submit abstracts for the 2026 PARSEC–CAPA E-Poster Program.

  • Clinical Research & Case Reports

  • PA Education & Health Systems Research

All accepted posters will be displayed at the 2026 CAPA Conference and on the PARSEC website. The top abstracts in each category will also be invited to participate in a moderated poster presentation session on Saturday October 24th, 2026.

E-Poster Requirements:

  • Single-page PDF

  • 16:9 landscape format

  • Maximum file size: 10 MB

  • Recommended dimensions: 13.333 × 7.5 inches

Authors are responsible for ensuring all content is accurate and free of spelling or typographical errors. No copy editing will be performed.

All accepted posters will be displayed at CAPA’s Annual Conference, both in-person and virtually, and automatically entered into the CAPA’s Poster Awards as well as PARSEC’s Readers Choice E-Posters Award

Selection Criteria

All E-poster abstract submissions are reviewed using defined selection criteria for each category (Original Research, Case Report, or Educational Research). These standards ensure high quality and relevant submissions.

Educational Research

  • Clinical Research

    Clinical research shares new, evidenced based findings from a structured study that explores clinical question or advances understanding of patient care or clinical practice within the PA profession.


    Selection Criteria:
    + Is the purpose or objective clearly stated?
    + Is the description of the materials and methodology understandable?
    + Are the results presented in sufficient detail to support the conclusions? 
    + Is the information presented in a clear and understandable manner?
    + Is the information presented clinically important or important to the PA profession? 
    + Are there practice implications for the PA profession? 
    + How does the PA profession impact the findings? 
    + What is the impact on the PA profession or health care system? 

  • Case Report

    Case Reports describes a unique or noteworthy patient case that offers practical insights or lessons for everyday clinical practice.


    Selection Criteria:
    + Is the information applicable to PAs? 
    + Is the information clinically important, relevant and significant? 
    + Is the information presented in a clear and understandable manner? 
    + Are there practice implications for the PA profession? 
    + How does the PA profession impact the findings? 
    + What is the impact to the PA profession or health care system? 

  • Educational Research

    Educational research examines new or effective ways to teach, train, or assess PAs and other healthcare learners to improve learning outcomes and professional practice.


    Selection Criteria:
    + Is the method original, innovative and effective? 
    + Are measurable outcomes presented? 
    + Does the project have value to other PA educators and the PA profession? 
    + Are there practice implications for the PA profession?
    + How does the PA profession impact the findings? 
    + What is the impact to the PA profession or health care system? 

Abstract Submission Instructions

When the submission form opens, be sure to have the following information ready:

  • Author Name(s) (Including Credentials): List the full names of all authors along with their credentials (e.g., CCPA, PA-C, PhD, MD, etc).

  • Email Address: Provide a valid email address for communication regarding your submission.

  • Poster Title: Create a descriptive title for your poster that reflects its content.

  • Category: Select the appropriate category for your poster (e.g., Clinical Research, Case Report, Educational Project).

  • Abstract (500 words max) which should include purpose, materials/methods, results and discussion.

  • The e-poster session is an opportunity for PAs to share the results of their research or the details of interesting clinical cases and to stimulate discussion with their colleagues.  

  • E-Posters will be posted online giving attendees an opportunity to review before they are presented during the conference.  

  • No, the submitting author does not need to be a CAPA member to participate. 

  • Yes, students are encouraged to submit posters. Student posters must meet the same criteria for acceptance. However, we recognize that many student projects are in progress when the deadline occurs; therefore, students are permitted to submit posters for research whose results are pending. The research must be completed in time for presentation at the conference.  

  • No, original research, as well as other types of scholarly activity is welcome.

    We will accept original research, case reports, innovative practice or educational techniques, systematic reviews or meta-analyses, and posters that have been previously presented at other medical or scientific conferences.  

    We strongly encourage students to submit research that is done as part of their program or a unique and interesting case report from their clinical rotations. Faculty from PA programs are encouraged to present their educational research, innovative curricular designs, or case studies. 

  • Examples of original research include but are not limited to results of a survey; an interventional study; a secondary data analysis; an epidemiologic study; cost-benefit analysis; an evaluation of a diagnostic test; or a pre-/post-test evaluation of an educational intervention.  

     

  • Systematic reviews or meta-analyses are eligible for submission. 

  • Each year CAPA releases a submission form. This requires you to review the selection criteria and submit a 500-word abstract.

    Your abstract will undergo a peer-review process. CAPA will contact the submitting author to advise if the poster has been selected for presentation. 

  • Abstracts will be blinded (i.e. authors’ names and affiliations will be removed) and distributed to PAs for review. Selection criteria are detailed below.

E-Posters Award

The Readers’ Choice E-Poster Awards highlight the creativity, scholarship, and innovation of Physician Assistants and PA students across Canada. Each year, members are invited to explore the submitted research posters and cast their vote for the project that inspires them most.

Voting takes place around the annual CAPA conference, with voting forms emailed to members before.

The winner will be announced during the PARSEC Awards Dinner at the CAPA Conference.
